Software Defined Radio (SDR) Engineer [ PDF Icon ]


Job Location

This position will be located in Cary, NC

Job Summary

The position will work closely with the rest of Signalscape's multi-function engineering team. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of wireless technologies, SDR development, digital signal processing and embedded systems. The job requires the ability to interpret system-level requirements, formulate and implement solutions that will be part of custom communication systems. Potential candidates must be capable of defining software requirements and modules for SDR system implementation. This posit ion will generally work independently or in small teams of engineers, SW developers, and project managers. These teams are required to understand and document requirements, propose solutions, design, implement, test, and deliver. Senior candidates may be a member of multiple teams. This position will design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and software development while using sound software engineering principals to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, and fault tolerant.

Responsibilities

  • Participate all phases of system development including requirements, architecture, design, documentation, implementation, and testing of new designs.
  • Provides software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.
  • Maintain, revise, or redesign existing systems .
  • Work effectively in a cross functional team.
  • Quickly learn and utilize new technologies.

Qualifications

  • B.S. /M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years programming for software intensive projects using a minimum of one (1) of the programming languages C,C++, Python, JAVA
  • Minimum of five (5) years working on software intensive projects for government or industry customers demonstrating increasing levels of technical expertise and responsibility
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience with embedded software design and device driver development a plus.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience with Linux operating systems.
  • A minimum of two (2) years programming experience conducting software development and integration on Linux
  • Demonstrated programming experience with SDR platforms such as GNU radio.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience with wireless technologies such as (LTE, WiMax, Wifi).
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience with OFDM/OFDMA demodulation schemes.
  • Experience with board level digital design using microprocessors, DSPs, and FPGAs RF or mixed signal design knowledge a plus
  • Ability to obtain U. S. Government security clearance at a TS/SCI level required
